The 2021 Upper Deck Skybox Metal Universe Champions (multi-sport, released 2022) is built around nostalgia for the late-90s Metal Universe look. Collectors typically chase these:

Precious Metal Gems (PMGs)

The biggest driver. Base and Fresh Foundation have color PMGs: Red /150, Orange /100, Pink /75, Blue /25, Green /10, Purple 1/1. Retro 1997-98 versions exist as well (Red /100 with only 10 Green). Jordan, LeBron, Gretzky, Tiger Woods, and key rookies command the most attention.

Rare inserts

•  Jambalaya — lenticular foil, all-time greats only, roughly 1:132 packs.

•  Platinum Portraits — even scarcer (~1:1,200 packs).

•  Skybox Premium Star Diamonds (1/1) and 1997-98 Star Rubies (/50, some autos).

Die-cuts

A Cut Above (legends) and Reaching for the Stars (young stars), three-sided perimeter cuts, about one combined per hobby box.

Autographs

Base Silver autos (~1:50 packs), Gold autos /25 (or lower on some inserts like Fresh Foundation Gold /10 and Blast Furnace Gold). Jordan, Gretzky, Woods, and a few others are the obvious targets.

Hobby boxes average one “hit” that is an auto, PMG, rare insert, or low-numbered parallel, plus several mid-tier inserts. The real value is concentrated on the lowest-numbered PMGs and the two ultra-rare insert sets featuring the biggest names.
